APPLE HARVEST FESTIVAL

When Southington’s Apple Harvest Festival began in 1969, our Woman’s Association decided to participate, earning $800.96.  It was a Woman’s Association fund-raiser until 1974 ($2200 was earned that year), when the church took it over.  Early on we began renting craft fair spaces in Fellowship Hall.  For many years, we had booths on the street and in Memorial Hall selling Bar-B-Q beef sandwiches, apple crisp, apple pie, cider, donuts and apples.  When our new addition was built in 1998, we expanded our Craft Fair to Memorial Hall and outdoors as it is today.  We gave up our outdoor booth, as well as baking apple pies, at about that time.  Last year, our AHF efforts raised $17,012.75 for church ministries and programs, as well as over $1800 for the Greater Southington Jewish Congregation.  The festival is our church’s largest fund-raiser.
