At the First Congregational Church of Southington, we offer Christian Education for everyone; nursery through adults.
Adult Education
A variety of classes are offered in our church, led by our ministers or several lay leaders. Contact Linda Fernandes-Bailey for more information.
Nursery Care
Introduce your child, birth - 2 years old, to their loving church family in our air-conditioned Infant/Toddler Nursery. A full staff of adult and teen caregivers are present during the 9:30am and 11:15am worship services, 52 weeks/year.
Church School
A staff of over 100 teachers use the FaithWeaver curriculum to teach pre-school through eighth grade classes. Classes normally meet at 9:30 AM and 11:15 AM (see summer hours note below).
Note: Starting 7/1 thru 9/2, we have church school at 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM in the air-conditioned Village Green Nursery School for children in preschool through 2nd grade.
Our Whole Lives (OWL)
A comprehensive, faith-based sexuality education for 7th and 8th graders. For more information, contact the church office at 860-628-6958.
Confirmation
Grade 9 students meet from October through May in our Confirmation Program, led by our ministers, assisted by lay leaders.
Youth Fellowship / CIA (Christians in Action) Groups
Various activities including retreats, mission projects, fellowship, coffee houses, etc., are shared on a regular basis with a team of advisors for each age group:
Helping Hands, Caring Kids includes grades 2 - 5
Jr. CIA includes grades 6 - 8
Sr. CIA includes grades 9 - 12
Sr. High Mission Trips
Each year our High School youth spend February vacation on a mission trip along with adult advisors. Recent trips have included Habitat for Humanity in Baltimore, with a side trip to Washington DC; serving at soup kitchens in New York City; and renovating a school in Mexico.
Youth / Adult Drama Team
The drama team has offered several major musicals, plus regularly scheduled coffee houses. In addition, the team provides contemporary service dramas at our 11:15 AM worship services. It allows youth and adults to praise God with their gifts of acting.
Adult Small Group Gatherings
These groups include book studies, parenting programs, film discussions, making quilts for babies in need, etc.
Spiritual Renewal Retreats
Day long retreats are occasionally offered with guest leaders. Recent leaders include Tony Campolo, Michael Kelly Blanchard, Gregory Norbet, Barbara Crafton, Sharon Deitrich, and Bernie Siegel, M.D.
