Rev. Joseph Danielson (1890-1897)

Our eleventh pastor was the Rev. Joseph Danielson. He was born in Danielson, Connecticut, on April 20, 1835.  He prepared for college St. Phillips Academy and was graduated from Williams College in 1861 and from Union Theological Seminary in 1865.

He went immediately to Westbrook, Maine.  Three other pastorates followed, and he came to us from Windsor Locks in November 1890, and served to April 1897.

When he came to this church, he was 55 years old.  He was tall and slender, with brown eyes and reddish brown hair.  His wife was the former Frances Weld, and his daughters were Louise, Frances and Josephine.

While in Southington, the family resided on North Main Street.

Mr. Danielson’s health failed during the last year of his ministry, and he returned to his native town, where he died February 20, 1898.
