Rev. John W. Collins
Interim Senior Minister
John began his ministry here at FCC as Bridge Interim Minister in October 2009. In addition to serving all of the Senior Minister functions, John’s role as Bridge Interim is to continue the work begun by the congregation and FCC’s intentional Interim, Rev Patricia Liberty, to prepare the congregation for a new settled Senior Pastor.
In writing about coming to FCC, John said, “I am truly excited and honored to be part of such a vibrant and loving church family, a congregation that strongly lives what it preaches about God’s open-hearted welcome of all people. As we walk into the near future together, I can feel God’s inspiring Spirit in every aspect of this wonderful faith community.”
John was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, received his Master Of Divinity degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary and has served churches in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. For 21 years John was the settled minister of Lordship Community UCC in Stratford before training to work in Interim settings in 2003. John brings to our church a strong commitment to excellent worship, pastoral care and church administration, as well as a deep and abiding curiosity and wonder about the gift of life that we have been given. He sees the church as the place to find the tools, support and inspiration for the unique “Journey of the Spirit” to which God has invited us.
