Reverend Patricia L. Liberty
Interim Sr. Minister

Pat joined FCC as Interim Senior Minister in December of 2007. As an Intentional Interim Pat’s ministry focuses on helping churches prepare for new leadership after the departure of a pastor. Pat celebrated the 25 th anniversary of her ordination in 2007 and has spent 18 of those 25 years as an Intentional Interim serving churches in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

In addition to her work as an Intentional Interim Pat has served as a Hospice and Hospital Chaplain in both Connecticut and Rhode Island. She also works as a disaster chaplain in the Rhode Island Emergency Chaplains Network, responding to large scale disasters such as hurricanes, plane crashes and fires. She is certified as a Critical Incident Stress Management specialist working with Emergency Services Personnel in the aftermath of disaster.

For several years Pat was an adjunct instructor of Professional Ethics at Yale Divinity School. She is co-founder and director of Associates in Education and Prevention in Pastoral Practice and is nationally known for her consultation work with churches in the aftermath of professional misconduct. She is the leader of the nationally acclaimed retreat, “is Nothing Sacred? for survivors of clergy sexual abuse and a contributing author to “When a Congregation is Betrayed, Responding to Clergy Misconduct” published by the Alban Institute in 2005.

Pat is an avid cyclist and a passionate sailor. In the off seasons for biking and sailing she loves to ski, read and practice yoga. She makes her home in Rhode Island with Renee, her spouse of 17 years. Pat has an apartment in Southington and is here Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday as her days off.
